German Made Model 1850s Style Cavalry Saber, by F. Horster, 29-1/2'' etched blade, 34-1/2'' overall, brass back and guard, wire-wrapped skate grip. Blade etched with Stand of Arms, floral motifs, and Crown-''M'' marking. In bright iron scabbard with two suspension rings. Considered quite scarce as only imported in 1863, and considered a possible Confederate Cavalry type saber that was brought in by blockade runners. Condition is fine to near excellent, with some thinning to skateskin, and a few loose but present wire wrappings. Scabbard shows cleaning. Est.: $800-$1,200.
