This isn't your average kitchen knife. It's custom made for top professionals. The wood of this set is handcrafted Cocobolo burl. Very rare, durable and expensive. The wood is not dyed or treated in any way. The thing we love most about this wood is that it's very rustic looking, almost like old barn wood. But unlike barn wood, which is weathered and deteriorating, Cocobolo is one of the hardest species of wood on the planet. So you get all the beauty with none of the drawbacks. Just finished with an old world oiling that brings out the full richness and beauty of the wood. One of the most important features of these knives is that species of wood in the handles are always very dense hardwoods. This is critical because the blades are very thick and weighty, and need large, dense handles in order to balance properly.
