The percussion cap firing mechanism is spring loaded and would probably act more as a deterrent from the sound as to the lethality of the weapon. The lower steel walking stick portion screws off to expose the bore just slightly larger than a modern 22 caliber firearm, and the muzzle is covered by a rubber disc for protection. Heavy patina on exterior of this barrel. Functions well
