Good Quality Victorian Air-Powered Cane Gun, NVSN, approx. .32 cal., 19-1/2'' rifled brass barrel, top portion is separate air reservoir, brass end cap also acts as ramrod. These devices were cocked by a simple key (not present) and fired by a button that projected from the left side after cocking. The top portion was usually pressurized by a stirrup-type pump and could fire several balls before needing a re-charge. Externally painted to appear wooden over iron. Condition is very good with approx. 140 years of light handling marks, and chips and losses to paint. An ingenious item for both protection and poaching in Victorian England. Est.: $800-$1,200. (Antique)
