1961 was the last of the full-size Finned Chryslers reminiscent of the late 50?s. Chrysler was also the last to build a true four door hardtop station wagon. In recent years, there has been a strong resurgence and interest in station wagons. They have a unique look and are quite utilitarian and attract a lot of attention a car shows, even to the point where they have their own class. The interior styling appointments compliment the beautiful jet inspired lines of the exterior. One interesting feature about early Chryslers was the raised seat back on the driver?s side for long distance driving comfort and safety. The heart of the New Yorker is its powerful 413 cubic inch engine and pushbutton automatic transmission.

This top of the line New Yorker wagon is finished Alaskan White over Tan vinyl upholstery and carpeting, and remains largely unrestored. The paint, chrome and exterior trim are unblemished appear to be original to the car. Some of the interior creature comforts include padded dash, power windows, power bench front seat, air conditioning, factory radio and dual side view mirrors. Wide white wall tires and dual exhaust add a classic 60?s feel to the car. The car is in excellent mechanical condition and drives well. This could be perhaps the most original 1961 Wagon in the world! With the classic roof mounted luggage rack and the fold down rear seats there is plenty of room to take the whole family on a cross country journey and explore old route 66.
