Alongside most other Detroit automakers in the mid-1950s, Chrysler also promoted other model lines within their Chrysler family: Imperial, Plymouth, Desoto and Dodge. It is clearly visible that the Virgil Exner influences were carried throughout the entire Chrysler product line, utilizing lots of chrome, contours and flashy fins. The top of the line Trim level for Dodge was the ?Royal? series, based on the current Coronet and the ?D-500? series being their performance version.
This is a recent restoration that remains in good solid condition. The exterior is trimmed in special limited edition Regal Lancer ?Spring Special? colors available in two color combinations, black & copper or cream & copper, the interior is very nice and covered in sharp matching tri-tone colors; copper, black and white vinyl and cloth. The chrome and brightwork all remain in show condition. Luxury amenities include power windows, power steering, AM radio, power brakes, and a power top. Additional features include, dual side mirrors, dual real antennas, dual chrome exhaust tips, dual chrome air cleaners, spinner wheel covers, wide whitewall tires, and correct jack and spare in the trunk. This Super D-500 Convertible comes equipped with 361 cid motor with factory dual carburetors that produces 320bhp which is mated to a pushbutton automatic transmission. This is an honest bluechip quality car and would be a great addition to any collection.
