Introduced in 1931, the 170 was the entry level of Mercedes-Benz production cars, and sold moderately well during the turbulent years of the mid-1930?s. Although, no Mercedes was ever inexpensive, the 170 series cars fell in the category of compact and economical, yet still constructed to Mercedes-Benz?s traditionally high standard. They had a small 1.6 litre 4 cyl coupled to a three-speed manual gearbox equipped with an optional overdrive.
This prewar classic wears an older restoration that has held up well. This car is refinished in its original color of grey with blue leather and dark blue fabric soft top. Mechanically the driveline is sound and the current owner truly enjoys this ca. It is a very nice driver and has participated in two cross country ?Great American Races? as well as it has been displayed on the show field. This is a champion and continues to show well. It now stands ready for both touring and show.
