Overview of WWII Nazi Waffen SS General's Visor Cap-Taken From SS General At Dachau

Item Details

Acquired directly from the Veteran's son and consigned to us by the collector who acquired it. It is guaranteed to be 100% original! The Veteran was assigned to the Medical Detachment of the 795th AAA (Antiaircraft Artillery) Battalion during WWII. A nice quality textbook example of one of the scarcest Third Reich visor hats made. In excellent condition. Nice tight fine black velvet cap band with a fine quality doe skin wool body with no signs of mothing anywhere. Very nice black finish to the top of the Vulcan fiber visor having the finished waffle pattern on the underside. Twisted wire bullion piping for the rank of General. The upper bullion piping shows light age oxidation giving this cap even more credibility. No maker marks but is typical Clemens & Wagner construction. The original SS cap eagle and skull show just the right amount of toning for this caps age. Silver bullion chin strap is in excellent condition and is attached with the early fixed style pebbled side buttons in zinc. The light golden-cream silk like interior is exactly what you want to see in this style of hat. It is size stamped 56 and shows light hair oil staining. There is not a celluloid crown shield and does not appear to have ever had one which is not all that uncommon. The textured leather sweat band is still very soft and supple. This cap is about a clean and near mint an example you may ever come across! This rare and desirable visor cap was taken right off the head of a Waffen SS General while being processed as a prisoner at the Dachau Concentration camp. The 795th AAA Battalion was assigned there to guard some of the prisoners.... There is a handwritten letter from the son stating the particulars on how his WWII Veteran father acquired this hat...Very interesting story! The name of the Veteran, the Veteran's son and the collector who acquired this cap will be given to the high bidder! Again...Guaranteed to be 100% original!
