Item Details

A Sale Highlight! A once in a lifetime opportunity. Found by Alfred Thomas along the Grand River in Grand Rapids (Kent county), Michigan.  This assemblage was most likely associated with the Converse or Norton mound groups that are located along the Grand River in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  They represent an aspect of the Hopewell ideology that was influenced more by the Illinois groups than those from the Ohio heartland. The cache includes a splendid Monitor Pipe made from pipestone, a fully intact Bear Claw and shell bead necklace with the original, ancient clasp, a pipe bowl, an ear spool (or possibly a cone), and three flint hair pins.
