Auction One Step in Re-Development Project for Notre Dame Sisters The Notre Dame Sisters are taking bold steps to ensure the future of their property! In order to preserve their historic building in the Florence area and to re-develop it to serve others long into the future, they are partnering to create additional senior housing on their campus. In 1997 the Notre Dame Sisters opened Seven Oaks of Florence, an independent living complex with 77 apartments for senior living. A first step in the Re-Development Process is to clear the building of items the Sisters will not need in the new configuration of space. An initial auction will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2009, that will include antiques, furniture, chapel pews, artwork, religious statues and more. This event will support the future retirement needs of the community. During the Re-Development Process the Sisters will move to other housing throughout the city. Their offices will remain on the present campus during and after the re-development. They value their commitment to and presence in the Florence area, and look forward to continuing to be a vital part of the neighborhood. Sr. Joy Connealy, chair of the Re-Development Project states: “We are entering the 100th anniversary of our presence as a congregation in the United States. With this project we hope to strengthen our commitment to the people of Omaha and particularly to the historic Florence area. Seven Oaks has made a difference in the lives of our residents. This expansion is very important to them and to us.” A second auction will be held at a later date and will include other valuable items and many salvage items.
