Item Details
Japanese wakizashi samurai sword with a high polished blade and signed at the tang. Blade from the Koto period. Scabbard is a black leather over wood with single belt loop. Heavy bronze tsuba with pierced openwork designs of a avian form. Handle a tightly wrapped in orange cotton. Menuki an openwork plaque to either side. Size 37" L, blade 25" L. Condition: Typical wear to mounts and handle with the blade in a good state of preservation. Tang with a distinct finish making the signature difficult to read.. Provenance: Ex-Southern California Collection

This auction is conducted under the listed terms and conditions. Conditions and representation of lots is provided as guidance for the bidders and should not be treated as a statement of fact. All lots are sold as is with no representation of age, condition or description. Absence of condition does not imply perfect or free of flaws including cracks, damage, tears or other possible imperfections. By participating in this auction bidders agree that all lots are sold as is without any warrants or representations with respect to the lots. The auctioneer retains the right to reject any bid and to withdraw or pass any lot at his or her absolute discretion. When identical absentee bids are submitted the auctioneer will accept the first bid presented at his or her discretion. The highest bidder as determined by the auction house shall be responsible to pay for the hammer, buyer's premium and any applicable sales tax. Ownership of lots shall not be transitioned to the respective winning bidder until the auction house is satisfied with all funds being transferred and cleared to the auction house's account. All sales are final. Buyers have 10 days to arrange for removal of lots from the auction houses facility. After 10 days the auction house reserves the right to charge a $5 storage fee for each additional day until the lots have been removed. The auction house reserves the right to relist and sell any lots which have accrued a storage fee larger than the hammer plus buyer's premium total for a given lot. Shipping and safe delivery of the lots is the buyer's responsibility. The auction house reserves the right to update or remove any lot listed at the auction house's discretion.
