Item Details
Rare Triplett and Scott Repeating Carbine: This unusual, repeating carbine was manufactured by Meriden Manufacturing Company, Meriden, Connecticut in 1864 and 1865; about 5,000+ were produced. It has a seven-shot magazine tube housed in the buttstock. The loading action of this gun was rather unusual, requiring depressing a latch behind the hammer, thereby allowing the barrel to twist in a circular motion, aligning with the magazine, that protruded from the buttstock. This carbine was manufactured in two lengths, a 30” round barrel and the markedly more scarce, 22” round barrel; only 2,000 of these shorter barrel models were made. This fine condition weapon is an example of the rare 22” barrel length. The gun has iron mountings, with a pair of sling swivels mounted on the heel and underside of the butt. The barrel, sight, and tubular socket are blued, with the receiver and additional parts being casehardened. The manufacturer’s markings appear on the tang and read: “TRIPLETT & SCOTT/PATENT DEC 6, 1864”; on the left side of the receiver is stamped “KENTUCKY”; the weapon’s serial no. 5085, is stamped on the right side of the receiver. Excellent vintage condition. Stock has usual dents and dings from use. Marked "Kentucky" on receiver. Has an inventory number Electro-penned in trigger guard and butt plate. ( See photos) . Good bore. These were issued to Kentucky Home Guard troops who were assigned to protect the supply lines of the Union Army under General Sherman's command. SN 5085

PLEASE READ TERMS & CONDITIONS!
We work very hard for the consignor as well as the buyer. The auction moves fast between the auctioneer, the on site bids, and the live internet bids. Because of this, one little delay, or what we call 'hiccup' in the internet connection, can cause an online bid to be missed. We apologize if this happens, but it is sometimes inevitable. Please be aware of this when attending a Proxibid auction.
Due to the element of Third Party Auctions and the reliability/unreliability of technical issues, we reserve the right to end an auction early or extend an auction as we see fit. We value our customers, both buyers and sellers, and try very hard to ensure an exciting, smooth, successful auction! We are happy and willing to work with you under any circumstances.

Donley Auctions may attempt to describe the merchandise in advertising, on the Internet and at the auction but makes no representations. In no event shall Donley Auctions be held responsible for having made or implied any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. The bidder shall be the sole judge of value, condition, age, genuineness, value or any other determinative factor.
Bidders who bid off site and are not present at the live auction or preview understand and acknowledge that they may not be able to inspect an item as well as if they examined it in person. It is the Bidder's responsibility to determine condition, age, genuineness, value or any other factor by way of their own knowledge, pictures, description, and emailing Donley Auctions with questions at donleyauctions@outlook.com. They will be happy to describe each item in detail, provide additional photos and any other pertinent information regarding the item.
Donley Auctions will not be responsible for any errors or omissions in the description of the merchandise. Bidder agrees that everything is sold as is and that they may not return any item they purchase.
