VITMAN** UNTITLED ** ORIGINAL ACRYLICOverview of Report on Effects of Hydraulic Mining in CA on Navigable Waters, 1882
Item Details
Report Upon A Project to Protect the Navigable Waters of California from the Effects of Hydraulic Mining, by Lt. Co. G.H. Mendell, Corps of Engineers [Washington: GPO, 1882]. Missing covers (?), as it starts with the report title on page 3; pp 3 110; three fold-out maps (mining area of the lower portions of the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers and their tributaries; map of lower Yuba River; and a map of lower Bear River). By this time, the extensive hydraulic mining along the main rivers of the gold country was beginning to have major impacts on the navigability of those rivers for purposes of commerce. This report addresses those concerns. The document is in a removable, protective plastic cover and, except for some minor toning, is in VG+ to Fine condition. [BK-66]
