This is a store card token from 1863 for G.M. Mittnacht Eagle Safes 23 Spring Street New York. Civil War tokens are coins or tokens that were privately minted and distributed in the United States between 1861 and 1864 due to a shortage of government issued coins. They were used mainly in the Northeast and Midwest. Store card tokens typically have one or both sides display the name and or location of a privately owned business. Size is 20 mm and is exactly as received and as always we will leave the grading up to you!
