Marlin Ballard single shot falling block rifle finely period New York scroll engraved in the style of LD Nimschke with H. M. Pope marked heavy barrel and custom target features, serial number 14301. The rifle is chambered in .22 long rifle and shows a 27 ½” heavy octagon barrel that measures 1 1/10” inches across the flats of the muzzle. The barrel is numbered 322 and dated 4 – 11 – 13 with a 16 over 0 marking beneath the forearm on bottom of the barrel. The rifle is mounted with a A5 Winchester scope. The forend is a replacement and a nicely grained wood that is checkered and of the target type. The butt stock is an old style with perch belly and mounted with a nickeled plated later butt plate. The hammer has been drilled and lightened and the double sit triggers have been honed and worked. The tang shows two tap holes and screws for tang sight which is missing. The frame is nicely engraved and shows a Buffalo on the left with a jumping stag on the right surrounded by 19th-century style scrolls. The lever shows an inset hard rubber panel.
