Item Details
Offered here are two mint-sealed 25 peso silver coins. These are almost 50 years old and exceedingly hard to find in high-grade condition. The coin was designed to celebrate the 1968 Summer Olympics held in Mexico City and are made of .720 fine silver, containing a total net weight of 0.5209 ounces of silver per coin. The obverse features the Coat of Arms of Mexico, with the image of a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus while devouring a rattlesnake. The reverse of the coin has an image of a native Mesoamerican in costume above the Olympic rings. The Mexico City Olympic Games were the very first to be held in Latin America.
