So the hot set-up is to create the best of both worlds, take a late model 911, with comfort and reliability and build it into a nostalgic, early “Long-Hood” style car. This restored and backdated 1984 911 Carrera Coupe is a prime example. It is a/c and radio delete (reversible) and has still has functional power sunroof and windows. The meticulous interior correctly details the “RS” look, with period style sport seats, 4 spoke steering wheel, flush door panels and pulls. This is a California Smog Legal vehicle with its California registration. This car is a personal build that was inspired by one of the all-time greats – 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Touring version. The car is not intended to be an exact replica of the Carrera RS Touring, but the build exemplifies the everlasting qualities of agility, lightness, balance, power, mechanical integrity, form following function, and classic Porsche design. The car can certainly be appreciated by those who enjoy the clean design and style of the long-hood cars, but prefer the civility that the later SC and Carrera 911’s offer. The car was completed and has been maintained to very high standards with excellent fit and finish throughout. Many period correct details were thoughtfully applied during the build process. At 150 mph, the only an expert could tell a genuine RS from a replica.
