The Brass Monkey is an incredible full custom build of a 39 Chevy truck. With amazing one-off details this radical hot rod was built as a personal vehicle by Doug Eldred of Eldred Hotrod Shop in Edinboro PA. Starting with just the original Chevy truck cab which itself is highly modified (including a top chop) this truck now has full unibody construction integrating a custom-built chassis outfitted with some of the hottest componentry available. Eldred built this truck with the often-overused motto of cost no object. Some of the mechanical details of this build include a freshly built 355ci Chevy topped with aluminum head and Stromberg carburation. The powertrain continues with a GM 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission driving a 4:10 ratio rear end in a custom Currie housing. Stopping power is provided by Johnsons Hot Rod Shop Kinmont brakes. Nicely hidden chassis plumbing leads to an ultra-clean finish. The rear suspension easily viewed through the radical full custom-built bed is a masterpiece itself combining art and engineering. The interior of that little 39 Chevy truck cab is possibly the highlight of the entire build. Fully trimmed in a most unusual pattern the pinecone-glazed antique leather is expertly fitted to all custom-built trim panels including a new metal seat surround. A 1936 Plymouth dash fitted with a one-off center gauge cluster of Eldreds own design and build was also specially installed. The coordination of color and materials makes for a most inviting interior with subtle details throughout. This incredible truck was just completed in early 2016 and has won awards and gained acclaim for Eldred everywhere it has been. Its very unique style harmoniously combining the traditional American hot rod with todays radical car culture truly makes it a work of rolling art. The build quality of this truck is second-to-none highly detailed in areas that likely will never even be seen. It is a timeless design that combines artistry and craftsmanship in a motor vehicle.
