Cincinnati Bengals running back Rex Burkhead said the NFL’s “My Cause, My Cleats” campaign allows him and others around the league a chance to show they are more than just football players.
The NFL permitted players to wear special cleats as part of the campaign to spread awareness for causes that are important to them. The My Cause, My Cleats initiative is a culmination of 18 months of collaborative work between the NFL and players across the league, and it includes an online storytelling platform, in partnership with The Players’ Tribune.
When the Bengals hosted the Eagles on Sunday, December 4, 2016, Burkhead donned red cleats with the logo of the Team Jack Foundation he helped found in 2013 after meeting young Huskers fan and pediatric brain cancer patient Jack Hoffman while Burkhead was playing at Nebraska.
This is a one-of-a-kind memorabilia item autographed by Rex Burkhead.
