The MGC was a 2912 cc straightsix version of the MGB sold from 1967 and produced until August 1969 with some sales running on into 1970 The engine used was a new sevenmainbearing development of the Morris Engines designed CSeries that was also to be used for the new Austin 3litre fourdoor saloon In the twin SU carburettor form used in the MGC the engine produced 145 bhp at 5250 rpm The body shell needed considerable revisions around the engine bay and to the floor pan but externally the only differences were a distinctive bonnet bulge to accommodate the relocated radiator and a teardrop for carburettor clearance It had different brakes from the MGB 15 inch wheels with Pirelli Cinturato 165HR15 tyres a lower geared rack and pinion and special torsion bar suspension with telescopic dampers Like the MGB it was available as a coupé GT and roadster An overdrive gearbox or threespeed automatic gearbox were available as options The car was capable of 120 mph and a 0–60 mph time of 100 secondsThe MGC was cancelled in 1969 after less than two years of production Today the car is considered very collectible and the main causes of the poor reputation relating to handling have in the main been overcome by better tyres and subtle modification of suspension settings Simple tuning of the underdeveloped straightsix is also common and simple modifications to head exhaust and cam release approximately 30 more power and torque than the originalThe MGC Roadster offered here has had 4 owners from new a lady owner from new 2nd owner in 1975 3rd owner in 1981 4th from 1991 the last 2 being a father and son The car comes with an incredible history file including MOT certificates invoices insurance documents etc dating back to when it was new including the original BMC Passport to service book All of the maintenance is detailed in a hand written log with supporting documentationThe vendor describes the car as being in very nice condition throughout and it is said to drive very well The car comes complete with all original accessories including red tonneau cover and all hood sticks and bags
