Terms Of Sale
Big Shanty is a full service auction company in the North Georgia, Atlanta area with the experience and ability to cover any and all of your auction needs. As such, our reputation and the continued satisfaction of our customers is paramount to us. We understand that without the trust you have in our company, we cannot be successful. That is why while most of our competitors have 25 pages of legal disclaimers written by a team of attorneys, we will just say this:
1) We take great pains to authenticate and validate every item up for bid and take a lot of pride in that work. We have many knowledgable employees with years of experience in antiques, art, jewelry and much more. That being said, we are not omnipotent. If we made a mistake, just let us know and we will make every effort we can to make it right. That's just the way we do things.
2) If you would like your items shipped, it is the sole responsibility of the buyer to contact Dwayne Bramlett at 770-231-2019 and let him know. If you would like your item shipped, and you fail to call Nick and let him know, we will assume you will be picking the item up in person at the scheduled live pickup. We do all of our shipping through PakMail in East Cobb or USPS. If you would like a quote on shipping, contact them at (770) 321-8262.
****Please Note****
If the buyer fails to pick up the item or contact Dwayne Bramlett about shipping within 2 weeks after the auction closes, the item will be considered abandoned and will be resold to the highest bidder.
3) We sell everything 'as is'. If there is a defect in a piece, we will highlight it in both the description and the picture if possible. The last thing we want is to sell you something and then you not be satisfied because it is not what you expected. Please feel free to ask us for clarification prior to the auction if you have any questions regarding the condition or construction of any item.
4) We don't use overly inflated 'low' and 'high' auction estimates to pump up our prices. Instead, we determine a very reasonable starting price with no reserves.
5) If you are the highest bidder for an auction piece, you own it. It takes us quite some time acquire items as wonderful as these. All we ask in return is that you pay for it promptly. We think that is a pretty fair trade.
6) We love consigning and purchasing antiques and collectibles. Going through life long collections is what gets us excited about coming to work in the morning. Photography, not so much. So while some of our competitors spend a lot of time making their jewelry appear to float in the air, and make furniture show up in Ultra 4K High Definition, we choose to work on finding new pieces for you to enjoy. So if you would like to see additional photos or details on a piece, just shoot us an email and we would be happy to send you additional photos or information. We will leave the stellar photography to Ansel Adams!
6) The staff here at Big Shanty may bid on items at our auction. After all, we like awesome antiques too!
7) There is a buyers premium of 18%. Even with this premium, we think you will agree that you simply cannot find these fine items at a lower price anywhere. If you can, let us know because we would be a buyer as well. That's all we've got - I'm glad my Journalism degree is finally paying off! Happy Bidding!!!
