Item Details
Restored Drop Phaeton purchased in 1977 from the New Salem Carriage Museum & General Store in Petersburg, Ill. It was advertised and sold as one of the original President U.S. Grant's personal carriages usd when he was at his home in Galena, Ill. There is NO written documentation to certify the statement or provenance. Sells with pair of lamps and shafts.

Purchaser must understand he/she is buying property entirely upon his/her own examination and opinion.
ANY ANNOUNCEMENTS MADE DAY OF SALE TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER ALL PUBLISHED MATERIAL.
The winning bidder of each item is identified as the Buyer/Purchaser of said item at the “fall of the hammer” and Auctioneer announcing “sold”! At this time the identified purchaser takes full ownership, assumes risk of loss, and is contractually obligated to make payment as stated in complete Terms of Sale.
In case of disputed bid, Auctioneer retains right and sole discretion to reopen the bidding.
All applicable sales of excise taxes will be added to the purchase price of all taxable items unless the buyer files with Auctioneer, proof of exemption from all such taxes in a form satisfactory to Auctioneer.
No sale shall be invalidated by reason of any defect or inaccuracy in any lots by reason of there being incorrectly described and no liability shall be borne by Auctioneers in respect of any such faults or errors. These have been prepared only as a guide. Please inspect items prior to bidding.

All purchases must be paid in full by end of sale day before being removed from The Kruse Museum.
Shipping: Auction Manager will assist on overseas containers and shipments. Please call our office prior to auction to make arrangements for shipping and storage. Persons picking up purchases must have the paid purchaser’s invoice and release to pick up items. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Shipping purchases by a certified Commercial Carrier, Purchaser must present a Manifest to Auction Company at time of settlement. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Personal or business checks accepted only with a Current Bank Letter of Guaranteed Payment, payable to PAUL Z. MARTIN, JR. AUCTIONEER. Buyers: All merchandise must be paid by end of sale day. Removal of Purchases: Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2, 2018 – Between 10 AM and 4 PM or special arrangements can be made to pick up at another time. All items must be removed from auction site by Friday, September 14, 2018.
Kruse Museum, Carl Casper, Auctioneers, its Agents or Employees will not be held liable for any damage, missing pieces or parts of any items. Carl Casper and Auctioneer will not be responsible for any items while in storage area. It will be the purchaser’s sole responsibility.
