Exceptionally rare, even more rare in this condition. Originally purchased in 1930 for Beverly Chew Duer throught Abercrombie & Fitch of NY, prominent NY city engineer and corporate executive. Son-in-law to Henry De Forest whose Purdey shotgun is also featured in this auction. A beautiful Parker Grade A6 (AH), only 1 of 125 ever made in exceptional condition. 26" solid ribbed barrels with a single silver bead front sight. Marked on rib "PARKER BROS. MAKERS MERIDEN, CT USA ACME STEEL" Fences, Frame, release lever, trigger guards and tangs expertly engraved with very tight dense scroll work. Case coloring is muted and faint but present with nice traces of blues/purples. Straight English stock and splinter forend nicely checkered and adorn with a raised fleur-de-lis. Butt is checkered. Double triggers, Ejectors, automatic tang safety. Choked Full and Improved Modified. Cased in leather trunk style box, marked "ABERCROMBIE & FITCH CO. / NEW YORK / MADE IN ENGLAND" Includes original cleaning stick, tools, and A&F oiler. Missing snap caps *C&R Eligible Condition: NRA ANTIQUE VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT! Barrel bluing is over 90%, case coloring present. Wood is excellent with just insignificant storage marks. Right side ejector is idle, something in forend is afoul, should be very minor to remedy(this is the only concern keeping this gun from a solid "Excellent"). Leather case is worn, Leather handle is pulled away from box but present. Bore Diameter @ 6" from muzzle L= .727 R= .729 Wall Thickness @ 6" from muzzle = .030 Both Bbls LOP @ Heel= 14 1/2" LOP @ Toe= 14 3/4" Choke= .695 & .702 = Full & Improved Modified Drop @ Comb = 1 9/16" Drop @ Heel = 2 1/8" Weight= 6.8 lbs Cast Off
