The Volunteer Soldier of America. with Memoir of the Author and Military Reminiscences from General Logan's Private Journal by John A. Logan, Published by R.S. Peale & Company, Chicago (1887) good condition in regards to the cover, the interior pages are in fair/good condition with some tears on the title page. John A. Logan served in the Mexican-American War and was a General in the Union Army in the American Civil War. He served the state of Illinois as a Senator and was an unsuccessful candidate for Vice President of the United States. Dark turquoise pictorial cloth Victorian binding lettered and extensively decorated in gilt and black, 9.75" tall, 705 pages.
