Cadillac made great strides in styling for 1941. For the first time, headlights were fully integrated into the front fenders and a horizontal-theme grille stretched from side to side. The hood was made front opening for the first time, and the gas tank filler was hidden in the left rear taillight, a feature that became a Cadillac hallmark. This model year the Hydra-Matic, General Motors new fully automatic transmission, became available for the first time.
A very original car with just over 35,800 actual miles, this car is heavily optioned; featuring wide whitewalls, wheel trim rings, accessory bumper guards, fender skirts, a dashboard radio, and a fresh-air hot-water heater. It has the popular and desired Hydra-Matic transmission. Paint is believed original with perhaps a repaint to the top many years ago. The chrome and trim is also original and in extremely nice condition. The interior is believed original and is very nice. The only spot of note is a wear spot in the front driver side carpet. The dashboard wood grain is showing in very good condition, as are the other interior appointments.
Many things on the car were addressed in the past few years including: complete brake system overhaul, new front suspension and hydraulic shocks, new front springs, rebuilt radio, carburetor adjusted and addressed with all lights checked. The car includes much literature, manuals and extras.
The car drives out just great, in traffic its the best. Runs smooth, shifts right, brakes right and is simply a very nice car.
Series 62 Cadillac?s from 1940?1942 are very popular cars for vintage touring, particularly in Classic Car Club of America CARavans tours, where they are recognized as Full Classics. They are eligible for all club meets and CCCA judging. This car?s capacious luggage compartment and strong V8 engine make it ideal for long-distance tours.
