most efficient cost for sending you your items. It is also the way Proxibid manages this process if
you have bid through that venue. If you leave mail bids or leave them “on the book”, we will call,
email or mail your invoice and hold items until payment clears.
RETURNS
The auction is absolute and the sale is a legally binding contract. The only reason we will accept
a return is if a lot proves to be inauthentic, altered or counterfeit. Excelsior Auction Co. as a
matter of policy does not knowingly sell material of this nature. If such items have
inadvertently been sold and can be proven by third party authentication (or to our
satisfaction) to be inauthentic, altered or counterfeit, we will promptly refund the purchase
price and shipping. Buyers will need to notify us within 10 days of receipt.
A WORD ABOUT GRADING AND CLEANING
We will describe the grade of coins we sell to the best of our ability in the catalog. Coin holders
may contain written grades. These are often left over from the estate, or have been written by a
collector consigning his or her collection to us…sometimes decades ago. The photographs we provide
should allow you to grade the coins accurately. Circulated type coins and world coins were often
cleaned in the past. If this is obvious or harsh, it will be noted in the catalog but it is not our place to try
and determine if every lot has been cleaned. If the cataloger notes a coin is “original”, in his opinion a
coin shows original surfaces. Numeric grades will not be used unless a coin or note has been certified by
one of the four major grading services (PCGS, NCG, ANACS and ICG). PCGS Photograde is the standard
your cataloger uses for US coins. Similar references are used for British and Canadian coins. World and
Ancient coins along with paper money will be described based on nearly a century of combined
numismatic experience. Still, grading opinions are meant to be a guide and are not a guarantee.
