This 1941 Crosley Convertible Sedan is a rare and cute little car being offered at no reserve. The early Crosley line of cars was manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio as part of a fleet of small car offerings from the same manufacturer of radios and refrigerators today. The dry weight of the car is only 925 lbs! The car was deliberately made narrow enough to fit through the doors at Macy?s department store in NY where they were offered for sale. The Crosley came wit a 12 hp Waukesha 2-cylinder, horizontally opposed, air cooled engine with a 3-speed manual transmission. This engine was also used to power orchard sprayers of the period.

This particular Crosley has been in the owner?s family for approximately 40 years. The owner?s uncle started restoration work and had the car painted, seats reupholstered, and engine rebuilt. The father obtained it from his brother in the mid 90s and was used in parades and at the Owls Head Transportation Museum as an exhibitor for shows in the summer.

The car came into possession of the owner after his father?s passing in 2011. Since then wiring has been improved, upholstery has been completed using originals as patterns. A new convertible top was fabricated and installed with framework kept with the car for what seemed like forever. The car now closely resembles the one advertised at the 1939 Worlds Fair in NY.

Documentation includes an original registration card from 1953 showing that the car at the time was registered in Port Chester NY. Also Crosley club literature, parts lists, service manual, etc. The owner states that the lights work, car starts reliably, and the brakes work properly. The only things that need attention are a new speedometer cable and a working windshield wiper unit (both of which are included in the sale) This car is also sold with current registration.
