Item Details
According to the 1911/1911A1 Production Numbers Chart (1912-1945), this Remington Rand U.S. Army issued 1911 A1 was produced in 1943. SPECS: This gun sports a parkerized metal finish, 5" barrel, safety grip, lanyard ring, Keyes Fiber Co. checkered brown plastic grips and 7-round steel magazine. MARKINGS: "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", "M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY"/ NO. 199619 on the right side of the frame; "REMINGTON RAND INC/ SYRACUSE, NY U.S.A." on the left side of the slide and proof stamped "FJA" (Frank J. Atwood) with "P" proof on the left side of the frame. CONDITION: This gun is in nice condition with light wear, has an excellent sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: Remington Rand, Inc. was an early American business machine manufacturer, originally a typewriter manufacturer and in a later incarnation, the manufacturer of the UNIVAC line of mainframe computers. Formed in 1927 following a merger, Remington Rand was a diversified conglomerate making other office equipment, electric shavers, etc. During WWII, from 1942 to 1945, Remington Rand was a contract manufacturer of the M1911 A1 .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol used by the United States Armed Forces during World War II.
