Item Details
Few arms have served the U.S. military as long or as well as the famed "U.S. Rifle, Caliber .30, Model 1903." For generations of American servicemen and arms enthusiasts, the M1903 has gained an enviable reputation as one of the best bolt-action military rifles of all time. The M1903 was manufactured by Springfield Armory at varying levels of production from 1903 until the late 1930s and at Rock Island Arsenal from 1903 until 1913 and again from 1917 until just after World War I. Even though large numbers of M1917 "American Enfields" were manufactured and issued during World War I to supplement the supply of M1903s, the "Springfield 1903" remained the standard U.S. military service rifle until the adoption of the semi-automatic M1 Garand rifle in 1936. Even after the adoption of the M1, however, the 1903 remained the primary American service rifle until production of the Garand could meet the demand. In 1941, with the U.S. being pulled into WWII, the U.S. Ordnance Department immediately contracted with Remington for M1903 rifles in order to arm the rapidly expanding U.S. armed forces. After the attack on Pearl Harbor the initial order for 134,000 rifles from Remington was increased to 308,000 and again raised to 508,000, with a target production rate of 2,000 rifles per day. This U.S. Remington Model 1903 was made in 1942 and was re-equipped with a new High Standard barrel during the war in 1944 (24"). Barrel is marked "HS 11-44" with U.S. Flaming Bomb acceptance stamp and "P" proof stamp. Features include a smooth walnut stock, adjustable flip up rear battle sight, dovetail front blade sight, checkered metal butt plate with cleaning rod compartment, bayonet lug and sling rings. This gun is in nice condition with very light wear, has an excellent sharp/clean bore and is in perfect working order.

- Each successful buyer will receive a invoice FROM PROXIBID within 24 hours after the conclusion of the auction. This will be a "FINAL INVOICE" which will include shipping and/ or any other fees that may apply.

- There is a $15 Per Gun Paperwork Fee. This applies to guns being shipped and still applies if the buyer is an dealer.

- It is the buyers responsibility to have their dealer (Sporting Goods Store, Pawn Shop or Local Gun Dealer) email us a copy of their license - auction@willsullivanauction.com PLEASE HAVE YOUR DEALER INCLUDE YOUR NAME SOMEWHERE ON THE EMAIL.

- Guns may be picked up to avoid shipping costs. All Federal & State Gun Laws/ holding periods apply. The procedure for picking up a gun is the same as buying a gun in a gun store.
- SHIPPING RATES - 1 long gun = $60, 1 handgun = $40, $10 for each additional gun, regardless if it is a long gun or handgun.
- SHIPPING EXAMPLES - 2 long guns = $70, 2 handguns = $50, 1 long gun & 1 handgun = $70, 3 long guns = $80, 3 handguns = $60 - Items other than firearms will have a shipping cost listed and the end of the description
- ITEMS WILL BE SHIPPED ONCE WE HAVE RECEIVED PAYMENT AND FFL/ C&R COPY FOR SHIPPING. FOR FASTEST SHIPPING - USE CREDIT CARD ON FILE AND HAVE YOUR FFL EMAILED BY MONDAY.
- Each successful buyer will receive a tracking number from UPS when their package(s) have shipped.
